More helpful and accessible server/port list

Post by robnich »

A few times now, I've searched for the list of Rollnet servers that I should be using or giving out to mail users.

There's a page https://acc.rollernet.us/resources.php which is really difficult to find, even using Google and even when I know I've seen it before (I've now bookmarked it). The only way I could find to get to it was to go to Mail Domains and click Add New Mail Domain, and click the "our servers" link. It would be really nice if this were in the navigation, but it would be even better if it were on the public site...since it will be needed by users, not just admins.

My other suggestion for this page is to add a little more information about what ports and methods are preferred or recommended. Something like this: http://www.tuffmail.com/ports.php

It's under My Account -> Server Information in the menu tree or main menu.

We can do that in the help docs section. The reason you can't find it with Google is because it's not accessible without logging in to the ACC.

Thanks Seth. You may want to consider making the /help section accessible publicly...I think it would help drive sales, since people searching for a solution to a problem will find you.

But the list of servers, at least the mail servers, would be very helpful if it were public. Most of the people that need that list are not going to have an account on the ACC.

The /help directory and anything under it should already be publicly accessible. Whether it shows up in a Google search or not I'm not sure.

You're right, and it actually does appear in Google's index. Don't I feel dumb.

On the other hand, the reason I didn't find the "Resources" page in Google is that it does require a login. That's the real and only issue that I have.
