IPv6 Glue Records

Post by sttng359 »

I am curious if you have looked into getting IPv6 glue records for your domain installed through your registrar allowing a DNS server to fully resolve the name without IPv4 connectivity.

Does nic.us support IPv6 glue records?

Not the last time we checked. We keep trying, though.

Although nic.us does not allow IPv6 glue as far as I can tell, .net does allow IPv6 glue. Have you though about adding IPv6 glue for ns3-i.rollernet.net? I doubt most resolvers will not use it because the glue for .net servers do not exist in cctld.us, but at least hosts that do not have IPv4 could properly resolve.

The server ns3-i is at an external site that unfortunately does not have IPv6 capability.

I'm trying to find someone with a definitive answer on the .us TLD support for glue records as of today.

The world on the street is that IPv6 glue should be possible. I'm attempting to get glue records added for rollernet.us. We also own rollernetwork.com and it should have IPv6 glue records for the following NS records. It's with a different registrar as a test case for IPv6 glue.

Primary DNS: ns1-auth.rollernetwork.com
Primary DNS: ns2-auth.rollernetwork.com
Secondary DNS: ns1-sec.rollernetwork.com
Secondary DNS: ns2-sec.rollernetwork.com

It appears that your .us nameservers still do not have IPv6 glue - do you know when that may be addressed?
In light of your announcement that you've achieved complete IPv6 support http://www.rollernet.us/wordpress/2010/ ... 6-support/ (congratulations!), I figured that having glue would be quite appropriate.

We have to transfer rollernet.us to a registrar that supports IPv6 and whose support doesn't look at you weird when you say "IPv6", which is a challenge in itself. The rollernetwork.com domain is part of that test process.
