Europe Server

Post by Black20VT »

Hi,

I know we've discussed this off list, but wanted to add something to the forum.

Now I've some hosted mailbox accounts with yourself rather than just backup, the trip over the pond from the UK to the USA is a little more evident, therefore, would be great to have a Europe based.

Ping from work averages about 180ms when low activity
Ping from home averages about 190ms, so slightly slower

Obviously when using IMAP, which most of the users are, this can sometimes be a little frustrating with the delay in communications/commands.

So a vote from me for a European (UK ) server. I don't know if there are other users that will also benefit from this?

Thanks.

Yeah, i'd like that too.
But would a mainland-europe server not be better for serving the whole of europe?

It's not going to make our radar this year; we are in the process of moving to a new facility in Reno, NV this summer. We'll be posting updates and pictures as soon as we close a deal on the space and start modifying it for our needs.

certainly something I would like to see; Rollernet is never "slow" but from both my iphone on O2 and my laptop, where-ever that may be, there is often a lag of the same 180ms you get!
