Domain alias

Post by kthomas »

Hello,

wouldn´t it be a nice feature to set tup "domain aliases" ?
Sometimes there are two (or more) domains with exactly the same settings (e.g. valid users), and it would be much easier to configure if one only had to add a domain as an alias for an already existing domain instead of setting up it as a new mail domain with copying all settings manually.

Best regards,

Karsten

Thanks for the suggestion. We've added it to our features to-do list.

That's a great feature! With this I don't have to maintain 2 identical valid user maps.
And also thank-you to Karsten for suggesting it -- I was too simpleminded to propose it.

Other than thought the valid user table setting are NOT passed to the alias domain. Am I expecting too much?

The alias domain becomes the real mail domain - as far as the system is concerned, the alias doesn't exist other than to accept it and rewrite it to the real domain. All settings should pass to the alias domain.

Please try it again - there was a bug triggering a subdomain rewrite rather than an alias rewrite in cases where the alias and the target were both subdomains of a domain. We added an additional test to the rewriting functions to fix it.

After your fix my alias domain setup works. Indeed, the alias and source domain are subdomains of a domain managed by Rollernet as well (and none of them have the "include subdomain" advanced option).

Thank you for the quick solution!

Sebastian -- happy again :-)
