Outbound server postfix authentication

Post by gijs735 »

Hello,

I am bizzy setting up my postfix for the outbound mail server and stumbled upon a problem, when I do telnet smtp.rollernet.us 2525, I can authenticate via AUTH PLAIN (my base64 encoded login info here) and send mail.

Now I found out postfix doesn't work so easy, I can't find out how I get the successful authentication via postfix, I get this in the log:

May 13 09:04:43 mail postfix/smtp[5870]: 0EBA72E1611: to=<myhotmailadress@hotmail.com>, relay=smtp.rollernet.us[208.79.240.5]:2525, delay=4428, delays=4425/0.02/3.5/0, dsn=4.7.8, status=deferred (SASL authentication failed; server smtp.rollernet.us[208.79.240.5] said: 535 5.7.8Error: authentication failed: )

Which means postfix is trying something else then I was when using telnet.

this is my postconf -n:

I can't find anything at google about this since I already tried pretty much everything I could find there, do you have any idea what the solution would be?

Thanks in advance,

Gijs

(I am using ubuntu server 12.04)

In the sasl_passwd file the password should be in clear text with the username and password part separated by the : character.
