Secondary MX

Post by Peter »

Is this possible with Rollernet?

I have a domain (at godaddy) which allows total dns control (specifically I can set primary and secondary mx records, or more if I want to).

I use company xxx for all my emails, this company allows hosting of domains. Normally it just takes the whole zone file and then uses it's primary and secondary MX servers etc. However it does allow a user to point just the MX records (one or more).

So can I with rollernet.us point my secondary MX record (using godaddy cpanel) to rollernet.us mx server and any arriving traffic be forwarded not to my account at company xxx but to a different email account (maybe gmail). This all to gain true redundancy with no single point of failure. Also this way, if it is possible, even if company xxx goes down for hours or days I can still get to read incoming emails at the forwarded address.

If this is possible with Rollernet do I need the basic or basic plus service?

TIA
Peter
