Use the following: mail.rollernet.us 67.118.43.92 mail2.rollernet.us 69.111.250.84 The reason I don't recommend doing this is sometime this year I may have to change IP addresses if the office I'm looking at to build a new operations center works out. It just so happens that the office is in a diffe...

Yes, the sender would get a bounce. I usually check the openrbl.org lookups on the mail servers at least once a day to make sure nothing bad is happening. Although there's nothing I can do about what happened, I do have a few ideas to make the mail servers hold messages instead of rejecting them if ...

It does appear that mail.rollernet.us was listed by SpamCop. I don't know for how long because is isn't listed anymore, but SenderBase ( http://www.senderbase.org/?searchBy=ipaddress&sb=1&searchString=67.118.43.92 ) still has it as listed in SpamCop so I know that it was. So one of our serve...

Topic: Secondary MX - all mail held not delivered?

The retry interval is a sliding scale to prevent the entire queue from being deliverd in large bursts. The inital delay is 15 minutes. If it fails, that time is increased. On each successive retry the time between retries is increated to a maximum of 24 hours. So if a server has been down for a whil...

I see them; I'll do a flush on the domain shortly so you don't have to wait for the retry period to expire.

I'm curious whether the spammer chooses to send mail to the backup mx (is that possible - even if the primary mx is running?), because it may be less likely to filter from ORDB, spamhaus, etc. (i have not set up this filtering yet on rollernet, but i have on the primary mx - this is my fault). That...

Everything looks normal right now - are you still having a problem? One of the servers (mail2/ns2) is somewhat overloaded and keeps running out of memory; replacements are on order and should be here next week or the week after. Although that shouldn't have affected the rest of the system, I'll take...

My guess is that when they send out the phishing mail they just throw some random words in front of @target.mx.server.net; in this case, the target MX is mail.rollernet.us. Since there are no restrictions on who claims to be the "from" address (or at a lower level, the MAIL FROM portion of...

Historically, BIND has had security issues which prompt installations as a non-root user. The BIND 9 series is a rewrite which much better security than its predecessors, but its reputation remains. That said, it's never a bad idea to run major services like DNS in a sandbox or jail to limit impact ...

DomainKeys

I'm going to look into implementing a DomainKeys filter option. This will be low priority for now, as I have a lot of work to finish on the current track of new features and various updates. You can find more information on DomainKeys at: http://antispam.yahoo.com/domainkeys

It's still alive; there is a larger number of incoming SMTP connections this week, and it looks like the server isn't responsive enough for the dnsreport.com webpage. It was timing out on the "RCPT TO" command, which is the point where the SMTP level filters are started. There aren't any e...

It's probably just a mixup with the color coding; I added some more parameters to include other results (like header tagging) that aren't actually being used yet. I'll double check the display code.

If you are using blacklists on your mail server, but don't have them set up in the account manager, a common tactic of spammers is to try the other MX hosts if any of them reject the connection. Right now there's support for DNSBL (i.e. spamcop, SORBS, Spamhaus, etc.) and SPF. Coming soon is Greylis...

How... odd. Although I think it was because the output compression option in PHP was enabled. I turned it off, so give it a try now.
