Migration to HTTPS and Why HTTPS Everywhere

We've recently migrated all of our sites to HTTPS. The account control center and webmail will continue to use Extended Validation certificates like they always have, while everything else will now be using certificates from Let's Encrypt . Let’s Encrypt is a free, automated, and open certificate au...

We're not redirecting HTTP into HTTPS yet, it's just for testing.
OK, everything should be all settled now. The redirect to HTTPS is in place and the certs are non-staging.

HTTPS with Let's Encrypt

We've deployed HTTPS with a certificate from Let's Encrypt for the forums. The IP addresses for forums.rollernet.us were also changed and may take up to 24 hours to clear from caches if you've visited recently. The old addresses do not have an HTTP->HTTPS redirect in place, only the new ones do.

Re: DKIM?

I don't have an ETA on DKIM signing for outbound mail. We plan to implement it in a way where signing keys are provided by the user and then associated to outbound accounts, not globally by Rollernet. It will probably happen when we get to updating that section, as you may have noticed that updates ...

Re: acc.rollernet.us AAAA record?

PCI loves NAT, but that's not really thing in the IPv6 world.

The account control center will eventually get IPv6 support. It's literally the only thing that doesn't have an IPv6 address.

Re: SPF "help"

It's correct. You can validate it with an external tool such as: http://www.kitterman.com/spf/validate.html For example, we use it in our own domain rollernet.us: ; <<>> DiG 9.9.5-9+deb8u11-Debian <<>> -t TXT rollernet.us ;; global options: +cmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: ...

Re: relays.ordb.org back?

Someone else could still be trying to use it on their servers. We preemptively removed it from everyone's configs once they went offline and the validity check should prevent it from being re-added. If an error message about it is indeed being generated by our servers we'd need to see the messages.

Re: Need mail queues redirected

Messages in the queue unfortunately can't be redirected to any external email addresses, only to another SMTP destination such as another SMTP server or hosted mail box (using hosted mail mode). Once a message is queued it can only continue on to an SMTP target. The only modes that are SMTP targets ...

Re: CAA Mandated by CA/Browser Forum

We have to upgrade all of the background PowerDNS infrastructure before we can add support for CAA records since the version we're currently running doesn't understand it. I don't have an ETA for this, but it's in the queue.
