SPF Record Difference

Post by Eleventy »

Just want to confirm that we still should include a._spf.rollernet.us in our SPF records, as recommended here.

The FAQ says to use the older auth.spf.rollernet.us instead.

I found a bit of difference in the SPF records. Looks like mxout has an additional ip6 range...

Code: Select all

a._spf.rollernet.us    text = "v=spf1 ip4:208.79.240.5 ip6:2607:fe70:0:3::d include:m._spf.rollernet.us ~all"
auth.spf.rollernet.us  text = "v=spf1 ip4:208.79.240.5 ip6:2607:fe70:0:3::d include:mxout.spf.rollernet.us ~all"
m._spf.rollernet.us    text = "v=spf1 ip4:208.79.240.32/27 ip4:208.79.241.112/28 ~all"
mxout.spf.rollernet.us text = "v=spf1 ip4:208.79.240.32/27 ip4:208.79.241.112/28 ip6:2607:fe70:0:16::/64 ~all"

Generally speaking if there's a contradiction between the FAQ and a help page section, the FAQ is probably out of date. It often is forgotten in documentation updates. We write the section specific help pages at the same time something is developed for the control center.

I changed the old ones to be includes of the current ones. One of the IPv4 ranges was also legacy and can be safely removed now.
