Bounce Messages

Hello Support,

Just a quick question. We have one customer who really really really want to have bounce messages back to the mail sender if a mail is e.g. too big and bounced from the local mailserver.

is there any way that we can configer this in Rollernet, or is there for this one customer a workaround you can prefer?

You can set maximum message size here:
Mail Services > Mail Domains > Actions > Advanced Options > Maximum Message (DATA) Size

Hi Minsk,

Thanks for your answer, but this is not what I mean.

We want to get the bounce messages that are created by our own mailserver deliverd to the sender of the mail. At this moment, the messages get bounced back to rollernet, en then they are 'dropped' and not put through to the send of the e-mail. We have one client who really needs that.

What you are trying to do is against Roller Network's Backscatter Prevention Policy:

You can probably configure your own mail server to first accept all messages from RollerNet servers then generate non-delivery messages to be sent as separate emails. But again, sending those non-delivery messages through RollerNet servers will be in violation of the above policy.

Sending non-delivery messages back to the original sender is a bad practice. Those should be generated by a sending server.

To elaborate on this, if any of our MX servers accept a message then the sending server already got a 2xx "OK" response from us. That's basically the end of that: the sender's server was told OK and nothing further downstream matters. If when our server tries to deliver it further downstream and we get an 5xx "failure" response, the sender has no way of seeing that response. It's up to the server that rejected it to notify someone or turn on Service Alerts in the account control center (the "Delivery Rejected" alert) to at least be notified when a delivery fails for any reason and to go look it up.

I apologize for the much delayed response. Due to spam issues (spam posts and spammer registrations) we stopped monitoring/maintaining the forums for almost a year.
